JA-PARS Modifications Are Now Live: Report Activities for Dental Professionals

September 09, 2020

We are pleased to announce that changes to the Joint Accreditation Program and Activity Reporting System (JA-PARS) in support of our collaboration with the American Dental Association (ADA) are now live. Many of you have been including dental professionals as learners since the beginning of the year, and these changes enable you to report the learners in JA-PARS. With these updates, jointly accredited providers can:

  • Indicate activities with a target audience of dentists or allied dental staff
  • Indicate the credits/contact hours offered to these professions
  • Report participation numbers for dentists and allied dental staff
  • Download updated reports that include these new fields

Updated versions of the tab-delimited and XML activity submission templates are available here.

Please note:

  • All 2020 activities that were marked closed as of September 9 now show “0” participants in both the dentists and allied dental staff fields. If dentists or allied dental staff participated in these activities, please update this information prior to the annual reporting deadline (March 31, 2021).
  • All 2020 activities that were marked open as of September 9 now show the new participation fields for dentists and allied dental staff as blank. You will need to complete these fields to close the activity prior to the annual reporting deadline. If there are no dentists or allied dental staff to report in a given activity, please enter a zero in the field.

If your organization is using the current tab-delimited or XML templates for activity submission, we recommend switching to the new templates within the next six months even if you do not include dental professionals in your activities. We will continue to accept the current templates, but you will not be able to close activities without the new participation fields. You may need to do some manual entry to complete your activity information if you are unable to switch to the new template prior to the annual reporting deadline.
