What are the key features of activity reporting?

This tutorial is designed to guide accredited providers through the process of registering their CE activities into JA-PARS. Please note, although the document focuses on PARS, you’ll see the same functionality and features in JA-PARS. Resources for submitting activities, including information on submitting activity data via tab-delimited batch upload, XML batch upload, and web services, are available here.

  • We’ve removed the fields for reporting year, hours of instruction, competencies, and type of in-kind support.
  • There are now four activity statuses. Learn more here.
  • We streamlined the names of activity formats (formerly called activity types).
  • If you offer repeat activities (activities with the same content offered more than once), you only need to enter the activity once, specifying the date and location for each instance, and JA-PARS will automatically create individual activity entries.
  • You only need to report an enduring material once for the duration of time that it will be available, up to a maximum of three years.
  • You now need to enter the end date for each activity.
  • You will need to enter a brief description of each of your activities, such as the abstract, content outline, or learning objectives. This data will support research and enhance search options in CME Passport
  • We modified the evaluation questions to better align with outcomes models that are used in research.
  • You can tag activities by commendation criteria for your internal tracking, supporting your efforts to achieve Joint Accreditation with Commendation.
  • You can identify interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) activities, as well as any of the credit types included in Joint Accreditation.
  • You will have the option to display any of your activities offering AMA PRA Category 1™ or IPCE credit in CME Passport, not only those that are registered for MOC, MIPS, and REMS.
  • You can search for an activity that offers pharmacy credit using the Universal Activity Number (UAN), and to identify if the activity is a part of a pharmacy certificate program; if so, you will receive a link to continue the process outside of JA-PARS after you save the activity.
