COMING SOON IN THE NEW JA-PARS: DASHBOARD, TAGGING, AND MORE

Our new, improved Joint Accreditation Program and Activity Reporting System (JA-PARS), scheduled for launch this summer, will feature a modernized, user-friendly, streamlined interface for activity and learner reporting.

Reflecting feedback from providers and other stakeholders, the improved version of JA-PARS will offer these new features:

  • The ability to identify interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) activities, as well as any of the credit types included in Joint Accreditation.
  • Functionality enabling you to search for an activity that includes pharmacist-learners using the Universal Activity Number (UAN), and to identify if the activity is part of a pharmacy certification program; if so, you will receive a link to continue the process outside of JA-PARS after you save the activity.
  • A dashboard for your CE program, enabling you to receive notifications about your program and activities, and see high-level statistics on your program.
  • Expanded capability for searching and filtering within JA-PARS and exporting the results.
  • Enhanced functionality for generating reports.
  • Greater flexibility for sorting and downloading your activity data.
  • The option to display any of your activities offering IPCE credit or AMA PRA Category 1➢ credit in CME Finder, not only those that are registered for MOC, MIPS, and REMS.
  • The ability to tag activities by commendation criteria, supporting your efforts to achieve Joint Accreditation with Commendation.
  • Help when you need it: Pop-up descriptions and embedded FAQ provide guidance and clarifications, without taking you away from the JA-PARS site.

THE VALUE OF THE STANDARDS FOR INTEGRITY AND INDEPENDENCE IN ACCREDITED CE

During a session at the ACCME 2021 meeting, participants and panelists brainstormed ways to communicate the value of the new Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education. Here are a few of the highlights.

What is your elevator speech about the value of the New Standards?

  • Ensuring that education is about what is best for patients and clinicians, not about financial incentives.
  • Safeguarding clinician and public trust.
  • The freedom to learn without bias or influence.
  • Ensuring learners receive the highest quality education guided by data, evidence, and science.
  • Protecting public health.

What strategies can you use now to communicate to your stakeholders the value of the new Standards?

  • Update disclosure forms and tools, using the toolkit.
  • Share the value proposition statement in newsletters and other communications.
  • Use a positive tone and message about shared responsibility.
  • Revise joint providership guidelines to include information about the new Standards.
  • Prepare a short video tutorial on the changes.
  • Place the “elevator speech” on the disclosure form.
  • Include the Standards’ value proposition and changes in upcoming grand rounds for staff and faculty.
  • Create a handbook/toolkit for stakeholders with best practices in education and the CME forms.

Visit our Standards resources webpage for tools to help you communicate and implement the new Standards.
