PLAN NOW FOR VIRTUAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT JUNE 23-24

Joint Accreditation presents the 11th annual Joint Accreditation Leadership Summit, a virtual event June 23–24, 2025. Together, we’ll explore the evolving impact of interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) across the healthcare team.

Guided by this year’s theme—Celebrating Excellence, Cultivating Well-Being: The Power of IPCE—we’ll reflect on the IPCE community’s achievements, share strategies to support thriving teams and generate fresh ideas to strengthen IPCE’s planning, delivery, and outcomes.

As part of this year’s summit, we are excited to feature Advancing Impact: Strategies for Commendation sessions. These sessions feature success stories from your IPCE colleagues who have achieved commendation. You’ll learn strategies for success, the impact of integrating Commendation strategies into an IPCE program, and the overall value of achieving commendation.

Explore more details and register on the 2025 Joint Accreditation Leadership Summit website.

JOINT ACCREDITATION EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION

The National Academies of Practice (NAP) in March honored Joint Accreditation Interprofessional Continuing Education™ with the 2025 Interprofessional Group Recognition Award. This award is given to groups who have made enduring contributions to interprofessional practice and education. The award was presented at the 2025 NAP Annual Meeting and Forum on March 15 in Washington, DC.

According to NAP, Joint Accreditation “set the global standard for interprofessional continuing education (ICPE) designed by and for healthcare teams by embodying the principle: if we can practice together, we can learn together. Joint Accreditation offers organizations the unique opportunity to be simultaneously accredited to design and deliver ICPE for multiple professions through a single, unified application process and set of accreditation standards – making them the first and only program in the world to offer such a benefit.”

APRIL IS NATIONAL INTERPROFESSIONAL HEALTH CARE MONTH

This month, we recognize and celebrate the contributions of the interprofessional healthcare team during National Interprofessional Health Care Month. The National Academies of Practice (NAP) established the awareness month in 2016 with the following proclamation:

  • Whereas, quality health care is in the public’s interest for maintenance of independence, productivity, happiness, overall welfare and well-being of society.
  • Whereas, quality health care is provided collaboratively by professionals of multiple disciplines dependent upon the health needs of the public at large.
  • Whereas, primary health care begins with health promotion, wellness, and the prevention of the very diseases and health problems that require treatment from various healthcare professionals.
  • Whereas, the complexity and breadth of health promotion, illness prevention and quality health care benefits from the diverse knowledge and skills of a range of health care professionals.
  • Whereas, health care clinicians collaborating in an interprofessional team model of service enhances not only coordination, but safe, effective and high quality health care.

“During National Interprofessional Health Care Month, we proudly celebrate the educators, planners, and healthcare professionals who make interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) possible. These dedicated teams play a vital role in advancing collaborative practice—equipping professionals from multiple disciplines to learn with, from, and about each other. Their work drives improvements in team-based care and leads to better outcomes for the patients and communities we all serve. #IPCEDelivers!”

Reminders for Jointly Accredited Providers

COMPLIANCE CHECK: KEEP DISCLOSURES SEPARATE FROM MARKETING

For this month’s Compliance Check, we’d like to share with you something about JA Criterion (JAC 12e) that might surprise you.

Did you know that you need to keep any disclosure information, such as financial relationships or commercial support, that you present to learners separate from any marketing for ineligible companies?

Joint Accreditation regards disclosure information as a part of accredited education. Think of the disclosures you provide learners just like you do any other educational content.

Our accreditation tip for you: Keep your disclosures and your marketing separate. Don’t place your disclosures on the same program book, agenda, or exhibit materials where you include any marketing for ineligible companies.

JCME ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR 2025 SPECIAL COLLECTION: THE VALUE OF CME/CPD

The Journal of Continuing Medical Education has announced it is soliciting manuscripts for its 2025 Special Collection on The Value of CME/CPD. The collection will help CME professionals continue to advocate for the value of their work. ACCME in 2024 launched the #AccreditedCMEDelivers campaign, which includes references to published manuscripts in the medical education literature. Similarly, Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education launched a #IPCEDelivers campaign with links to articles documenting the impact of IPCE. These articles can be an excellent starting point for those interested in submitting manuscripts to the Special Collection. The deadline for submission is December 31, 2025. Articles will be processed and published as they are accepted. The collection will be featured at the 18th Annual European CME Forum, November 5-7, in Manchester, UK. For details on the submission process, visit the Special Collection website here.

CHECK YOUR CONTACT INFO IN JA-PARS
Primary Contacts: This is a good time to double check your contact information in JA-PARS and make sure it is up to date. We also encourage you to add an additional contact as a backup if you have not done so already.

JOIN OUR SURVEYORS TEAM
Looking for a way to enhance your understanding of Joint Accreditation requirements? Consider becoming a Volunteer Surveyor! We are seeking applicants for our volunteer surveyor pool who will, through their interactions with applicants and accredited providers, help Joint Accreditation fulfill its mission and serve as a link between accredited providers by conducting accreditation interviews. Surveyors help ensure that Joint Accreditation has the information about a provider’s interprofessional CE program that is needed to support the accreditation review and decision-making processes.

Surveyors will have the opportunity to enhance their professional development in interprofessional continuing education while advancing their understanding of accreditation requirements. Eligibility to become and remain a volunteer surveyor is assessed using the following criteria:

  • Independence from ineligible companies
  • Active participation in interprofessional continuing education (IPCE)
  • Adherence to the requirement that prohibits private consulting related to accreditation

Click here for the Surveyor Application. Along with your application, please submit a copy of your CV along with two letters of recommendation from a current Joint Accreditation volunteer and/or a current volunteer or staff member of a Jointly Accredited provider.

THANK YOU!
Joint Accreditation extends our thanks to jointly accredited providers for completing your annual data requirements and for participating in the CPD/CE Workforce Survey. Your participation contributes to our ability to paint a clear and complete picture of the evolving ecosystem of interprofessional continuing education (IPCE).

In the coming weeks we will be aggregating the annual data submissions to produce the annual Joint Accreditation Data Report, a valuable tool for accredited providers to understand the current CE environment and the nature of the education being provided, benchmark their performance, and demonstrate the impact of their work. Watch for the full report this summer!

Thanks to high participation from jointly accredited providers, the CPD/CE Workforce Survey will yield useful data for accredited providers to benchmark their programs against industry standards and make informed decisions about their staffing models and compensation strategies. Preliminary data will be available soon, with a full report in the coming months.
