New Joint Accreditation Leadership Summit Report Explores the Transformative Value of IPCE

We’re excited to bring you a new report, The Transformative Value of IPCE, which captures highlights from the 2020 Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education Leadership Summit. Held virtually for the first time. the Summit brought together more than 250 interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) professionals, representing more than 100 organizations, to explore the role of IPCE in creating a collaborative learning culture for healthcare teams.

Despite our physical distance, we engaged in interactive activities to build and sustain connections. During a time of unprecedented stress, the Summit was instrumental in strengthening our thriving community of practice for IPCE professionals. We thank the speakers and participants for contributing their expertise, best practices, and lessons learned to the Summit. Highlights from the report include:

• Managing Stress During the COVID-19 Era: The Imperative of Self-Care for the IPCE Professional: Aviad “Adi” Haramati, PhD, Professor of Integrative Physiology at Georgetown University Medical Center, explored the importance of self-care for IPCE professionals, and how IPCE can support the health and wellbeing of the healthcare professional workforce.
• Best Practices in IPCE: Jointly accredited providers described their best practices in IPCE. Case examples are included throughout the report.
• Diversity in IPCE: Antoinette “Toni” Minniti, PhD, Office of CE Sponsor Approval, American Psychological Association, offered guidance for developing an IPCE action plan to address diversity in programming and processes.

Celebrating Together

We were proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Joint Accreditation in 2020. Our IPCE community now includes accreditors representing ten professions and more than 100 accredited organizationsall dedicated to advancing healthcare education by the team, for the team. We thank our community of jointly accredited providers for creating education for care teams the drives improvements in team performance and helps to optimize the care, health, and wellness of patients and communities.
