2024-2025 ANNUAL ACCREDITATION FEES

Joint Accreditation is pleased to announce there will be no increase in annual accreditation fees for each tier in the fee structure for 2024. We do anticipate fee increases for 2025, and are providing you with the information now to support your planning and budgeting processes. In addition, changes to the fee structure beginning in 2024 may result in assignment to a different tier for a small number of accredited providers.

You will receive an invoice for your 2024 fee, including any additional professions you may have selected, in early December. Payment will be due by January 31, 2024.

COPY ACTIVITY FEATURE ADDED TO JA-PARS

After hearing feedback from our community, we are happy to announce that the copy activity function is now available in the Joint Accreditation Program and Activity Reporting System (JA-PARS).

You can copy an existing activity from your activity summary by hovering over the activity card and clicking the copy button.

You can also copy an existing activity from the activity detail view.

In both cases, once you click Copy you will be brought into the manual “add” activity flow. Just like with the old copy function, some fields are copied, and some are not. To learn more about which fields are copied and which aren’t, check out the Copy Activity Guide.

We hope our community will find this functionality useful! If you have any questions, reach out to [email protected].

AMERICAN BOARD OF PATHOLOGY CREDIT TYPE CHANGE

In response to updates to the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Continuing Certification guidelines, the American Board of Pathology (ABPath) is changing the language for their “Part IV” activities from “Improvement in Medical Practice” to “Improvement in Health and Healthcare.” This change will go into effect in January 2024.

If you have an activity registered for ABPath Improvement in Medical Practice, you should have received an email with next steps. There has been no change to the definition of what counts; this is a name change only. No further action is needed if you do not have any activities registered for ABPath Improvement in Medical Practice.

What you can expect:

  • Providers should not make any changes to their activities in JA-PARS at this time.
  • ACCME will update the CME for MOC program resources and technical instructions to note that the change will be happening in January 2024.
  • On January 25, 2024, ACCME will update any activities currently registered for “Improvement in Medical Practice” to “Improvement in Health and Healthcare.” Learner credits that have already been accepted will also be updated to use the new language.
  • Beginning on January 25, 2024, providers will need to use the new language when:
    • Registering a new activity for ABPath for Improvement in Health and Healthcare credit;
    • Updating an existing activity that is registered for “ABPath Improvement in Health and Healthcare credit”; and
    • Reporting learner credit for “ABPath Improvement in Health and Healthcare.”

If you have any questions about these changes, please contact [email protected].

Joint Accreditation Leadership Change – Our Gratitude for Kathy Chappell’s Guidance

It is with mixed emotions that Joint Accreditation announces the departure of Kathy Chappell, PhD, RN, FNAP, FAAN, from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and Joint Accreditation. Kathy has been the staff lead from ANCC, a founding member of Joint Accreditation, since Joint Accreditation’s founding in 2010 and has been a steadfast leader, innovator, and advocate for Joint Accreditation since its inception.

Kathy has assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and we wish her much success as she continues her career in nursing education. Jennifer Graebe, MSN, NEA-BC, ANCC’s Director of Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) and Joint Accreditation Programs, has taken over primary responsibility for ANCC’s role in Joint Accreditation.

Joint Accreditation would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude for Kathy’s outstanding leadership and guidance.

To honor Kathy’s achievements in Joint Accreditation, we sat down with her to discuss her contributions and hopes for the future of interprofessional continuing education (IPCE).
